FINSYNC is most effective when you sync your company's bank accounts and credit cards. Once synced, FINSYNC can import your bank and credit card transactions automatically which provides visibility across all accounts.
You can add and sync your bank Accounts and Credit Cards by following the the steps outlined below:
Note: You DO NOT need to sync debit cards. Debit cards pull from your bank account, so they DO NOT need to be synced. The transactions will appear as part of the associated bank account.
Credit cards do have their own balance, so they DO need to be synced.
1. Gather your login and password for your bank's website(s) that you use to access your accounts directly. It is also helpful to have your routing and account numbers available for reference.
2. Click Banking in the top menu.
3. Click Add New from the left menu.
4. Check to confirm the Sync option is selected and click the Continue button.
5. Locate your bank on the screen or type the name in the Search for your bank box.
Tips for Searching and Locating Your Bank: Larger banks may have multiple options. Your specific type of credit card or bank account may be found easier using a single word as your search term.
- Try using different search terms. Sometimes the bank name that you are familiar with does not match the listed name.
- Example: The bank that most of us know as BB&T is listed as BB Business Bank, which can be found by searching "BB."
- Example: Instead of searching "JP Morgan Chase Bank Commercial Card" try using only "Chase" and find your specific credit card or bank account type from the list of results. In this case it is listed as "Chase J.P.Morgan".
- If you choose the incorrect bank, do not worry, you can always go back!
6. After searching and locating your bank, click on the bank name.
7. A confirmation screen will display to confirm specific details that are shared using Finicity to securely gather data from your bank. Click Next to continue and you will be prompted for your login credentials (login ID and password) for your bank.
8. The next prompt will be entering your login credentials for you financial institution in order to access and select the account(s) you want to sync. Enter your credentials (login ID, password and for some accounts, your company ID) and click Submit.
Note: The image below is an example and will vary depending on the financial institution.
9. The next screen will provide a list of available accounts for this bank and the login ID used. Select one or multiple accounts to indicate which accounts should be sync'd with FINSYNC. After selecting the desired accounts, click the Save button.
Note: The image below is an example and will vary depending on the financial institution.
10. A confirmation screen will display indicating the bank and the number of accounts selected.
- If you have accounts at another bank, you can click the Add another bank button and repeat the same steps for the other bank and account(s).
- If you are finished with selecting banks and accounts, click the Submit button.
11. After identifying the bank(s) and account(s), a confirmation screen will display that lists the accounts. Review and confirm the accounts and then click the Continue button.
12. The next step is to confirm the starting date from which to import past transactions. The default date is the first date of the current year.
Note: Most banks have a default of pulling in transactions up to 90 days back from the current date of the initial sync. This setting is managed by each bank meaning you will likely only see transactions 90 days or less pull into your FINSYNC profile. If older transactions need to be added they can by imported manually. Click HERE to view a tutorial on how to complete this.
Once the date is selected, click the COMPLETE button.
13. Congratulations! You have now configured your account(s) to sync with FINSYNC.
Please note that it may take several minutes for the initial sync to process and display transaction history in FINSYNC. You can continue to use other areas of FINSYNC while this sync takes place.
You can add additional accounts to be synced at any time by repeating the same steps.
Below is some general information about syncing accounts with FINSYNC:
- The sync process takes place daily in the evening
- The sync process include changes from the previous day (since the previous sync)
- The sync process occurs on weekdays. Weekend transactions activity will appear on Tuesday as activity using Monday's date.
